Research and visual aids for Group Dance Numbers

This is a running list of images and video for the group dance numbers that are part of TRADE PRACTICES.

G.1 SWITCH TO FEAR

Add some vids!

G.2 DANCE OF ARB

Add some vids here too!

G.3 REORGANIZATION

Coming out of E.5 and leading into T.6, “Reorganization” begins as a part of the OWN storyline and then expands out to “interrupt” all of the storylines, drawing everyone in and moving them about—audience included.

Lovely soft shoe number, starts around 1:30

Fantastic fast number from Swing Time. Oh Fred & Ginger you’re so wonderful!

…and a slow Fred & Ginger number, “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes” from Roberta

“Top Hat, White Tie and Tails”—Astaire’s solo starts around 1:50

“We’re In The Money” from Gold Diggers of 1933. The Shiva-coin-arms at 0:45 and the Coin Wave at 2:20 are serious keepers

Fantastic, machine movements and patterns—but all done with moving people rather than relying on turntables and such. Starts around 2:05. At 2:40 they do a great thing with gears. Starting around 3:05 there’s a nice repetitive thing with props.

A lot of the Berkeley numbers in this are too dependent on either overhead camera angles or stage machinery. But the fabric bit starting at 3:20 could be interesting to riff on in the Reorganization number, and the ending is cheesy and wonderful and brilliant.

Take the Shiva-coin-arms from “We’re In The Money” (above), and put it on LSD and meth. Wow.
